One of the favorite lines when I was growing up in church was, "You are the only Jesus some people will ever see." It's a shame the gravity of that statement misses so many people. What must people think when they see Jesus as people who spew hateful rhetoric in the arena of politics, people who can't have a civil discussion and resort to personal attacks in place of dialogue?
No, I am not saying the other side does any better; only that Christians SHOULD!
Many Christians today have become sheltered and isolated from the real world. They can't connect with someone outside their church because they have nothing to connect with. They live in a Christian bubble, with no concept of what others outside the church know as real life. They can't even begin to break through because they are so prejudiced by their narrow view of the world.
On June 7, I'll be releasing a new book, Company Man. It's a business parable-type book, much like the pithy, quotable books you find in the check out line at Office Depot. Only this book isn't about business; it's about becoming what some used to call "contagious Christians," people who draw others to Christ instead of driving them away.
The world needs a Savior. If we're the only Savior they see, the world is in trouble.
